Housing Information 
The military provides two options for the use of your Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH). The first option is living on base. Your second option is using your BAH to rent or buy a home off base.

• The Housing Services Office (847) 688-3440. Contact the housing office as soon as you know you are moving. You will be provided with the latest information on local housing as well as referral services and relocation assistance. They offer counseling and guidance before entering into a lease agreement and help resolve tenant-landlord disputes.

NS Great Lakes On Base Housing 

• Single service members can contact Unaccompanied Housing (847) 688-3500 for assistance. 

• Great Lakes on-base housing is privatized and operated by Hunt Military Communities (847) 689-4312, whichoffers 6 neighborhoods with 2-5 bedroom homes base on rank and family size. Homes may come with wood floors, fireplaces, garages and washer/dryer hookups. Community amenities can include a basketball court, playground and fitness center.
